En rentrant chez eux, Sheldon et Leonard découvrent qu'ils se sont fait cambrioler. Sheldon, inquiet, demande alors à Howard d'installer un système d'alarme ultraperfectionné afin d'avoir l'esprit tranquille. Mais au moindre bruit, il sursaute. Il décide alors de déménager dans une ville où le taux de criminalité est proche de zéro.
